Daniel Bevan Swanberg grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. He has always been attached to the world of music. Daniel has played cello for approximately 16 years, and since has learned to play bass (9 years) and piano (2 years), while also immersing himself in many other string instruments through the years. He has performed in many types of ensembles such as orchestras, pit orchestras, chamber ensembles, and rock bands, covering an array of different styles. He has also had the opportunity to assist in teaching a youth strings program.

Daniel earned his Bachelor of Music in composition from Columbia College Chicago with high honors. While at Columbia College Chicago, he not only studied music composition, but electronic composition and sound design as well. Video games and their soundtracks are one of Daniel’s biggest passions. Ever since he was a child, he quickly became aware of the vast amount of artistry, creativity, and hard work that goes into creating a video game. He grew very fond of many game soundtracks, in particular, soundtracks composed by Nobuo Uematsu and Koji Kondo; and as time went on, the works of Jeremy Soule became the most influential to him.

Recently, Daniel has earned his Masters of Music in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games at Berklee Valencia (satellite campus of Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain), with high honors. While at Berklee Valencia, Daniel has had the opportunity to work as a Graduate Assistant in the Technology Lab providing technology support and maintenance to students and staff. This position helped further his education and growth.

Since his graduation, Daniel has had the opportunity to work with Sonotrigger. At Sonotrigger, Daniel provides additional music and sound design for video games. This position has been an amazing experience, and has helped his skills grow immensely through real world application.
